Anthony Kuykendall is an undergraduate student at American University, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies: Communications, Law, Economics, and Government.
After graduating in the top 10% of his graduating class at Lutheran High School of Orange County (CA) with summa cum laude honors, Anthony began his academic journey in the nation’s capital with a focus on issues of equal opportunity, democratic access, and racial justice.
After a rigorous and selective application process, Anthony was admitted into the Policy, Politics, and Law three-year scholars program at American University as one of 18 freshman undergraduates. Additionally, he was also accepted into the equally selective School of Public Affairs Leadership Program, with a focused issue discipline of Human Rights and Racial Justice.
During his time at American University, Anthony has served on the executive board of AU College Democrats in the Chief of Staff position. Additionally, he has worked as Field Director for the campaign to elect acting Student Government President Taylor Dumpson, and currently serves as a member of her cabinet on the Project Management Team. Anthony Kuykendall is also the recruitment chair of his fraternity, Zeta Psi.
In his first year in the School of Public Affairs Leadership Program, Anthony and his group organized a canned food drive and awareness campaign to combat the rising food insecurity epidemic in the District of Columbia. This year he is continuing his research locally by looking at the discrepancies between racial segregation and charter schools admissions in D.C.
After college, Anthony has big aspirations to work on and manage a national, progressive campaign, or to go into full-time research as a doctorate student pursuing a professorship and a name for himself in academia.
