About Alexander

Alex is a current second-year student in the School of Public Affairs at American University. Alex intends to graduate in 2022 with a double major in Political Science and Public Relations, and a certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies from the SPA Leadership Program. After college, Alex intends on studying Constitutional Law with the intent of running for an elected office or working as a lobbyist.

Growing up in Seaside, California, Alex spent his early summers working at Monterey Airbus, a private transport company. There he learned the value of hard work and acquired verbal and written communication skills to facilitate the division of work. From there, Alex managed a team of students as the Sports Editor of the publication Tusitala, worked as a school tour guide, and taught a freshman class at his high school, The Robert Louis Stevenson School. However, Alex got his big break when he was hired as a Business Development Intern at the tech startup, GroundWork. While originally working on maintaining a social media presence, Alex was quickly promoted to the translation of business and legal documents, website development and research projects. Here, Alex learned a plethora of skills related towards computer usage, such as WordPress, Weebly, Microsoft Office as well as being able to work on his corporate Spanish, a language he is fluent in. After moving to D.C., Alex quickly entered into the world of Washinton Politics, interning with Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph. D (NC-12). With the Congresswoman, Alex answered and replied to constituent concerns, gave tours and attended and wrote policy briefings. Recently, Alex accepted a position as a lobbying intern with ML Strategies, a division of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo.
