Maddie Corwin: Hello fellow zodiac peoples. Welcome to Astrology Psychology, where we analyze and sometimes judge how scary your natal chart is. I’m your host Maddie Corwin catching you on the flip. Do you believe in astrology?

Speaker 1: I don’t believe in zodiac signs because I don’t believe that the alignment of the stars and the planets
dictate who you are as a person. And also, who assigned the certain attributes to the zodiacs?

Speaker 2: Mhm Yes, I believe in astrology. I’m a Taurus and all the characteristics of my sign fit me perfectly. And all my friends, their signs fit them perfectly as well. So there’s definitely something to this.

Speaker 3: I do not believe in astrology but I am comforted by astrology. I fall asleep to asmr astrology and I find a satisfaction in knowing that we need to hear and be affirmed by our beliefs as a society.

Maddie Corwin: During these uncertain times more people are turning to the stars for guidance than ever. From tarot readings all over our, for you pages on Tiktok to zodiac meme accounts popping up all over instagram, it’s hard to deny the explosion and interest for astrology. While horoscopes and sun signs are fun and a great way to dive into astrology, they’re only the surface level. To really gain a true sense of understanding of ourselves. We have to look into our natal charts, which are an in depth chart that is dependent on the time, location and date of your birth. Many people who don’t believe in astrology only analyze their sun signs, which tend to not be an accurate depiction of ourselves. We have to look at our natal charts to fairly assess whether or not our chart resonates with us and our understandings of ourselves. So if you don’t know your birth time, call up your mom, grandma, dad, nanny, or whoever would have that info so you can follow along with us today.

Today, I’m here with my mom Jill and we’re going to get super personal about all things astrology and whether or not she feels her zodiac placements resonate. So without further ado, I welcome my mom. Mom, thank you for coming.

Jill Corwin: You’re welcome Maddie. And I’m really excited for this. Thank you.

Maddie Corwin: I’m so excited. I can’t wait. Okay, so I guess I first want to ask, do you even know your sun sign? Like I know you aren’t that invested into astrology and sometimes I’ll see you roll your eyes as I’m going off about my Leo moon. But honestly, I just want to know, do you believe in zodiac signs?

Jill Corwin: Do I believe in astrology? I really don’t give a lot of credence to people’s perceptions of the zodiac signs. I know that you’re very invested. You’re very knowledgeable. You’ve been doing so much research on it, but for me, I just don’t get it. Maybe  you’ll be able to change my mind, so I’m excited for this.

Maddie Corwin: Okay, I appreciate the honesty. I don’t appreciate you attacking me analyzing my zodiac signs, but I think I can change your belief about the validity of astrology.

Jill Corwin: Okay, let’s try this. Let’s see how it goes.

Maddie Corwin: Okay, so when looking into astrology, people really only tend to look at the sun sign first. So have you ever seen the zodiac names on twitter or instagram? Like tauruses are always hungry? or Aquarius are  ghosting everyone?

Jill Corwin: You mean the ones that you send me about you? Yes, I’ve seen them.

Maddie Corwin: After talking with a bunch of friends and my peers, I find that a lot of the time people who are these big naysayers of astrology often don’t really know the depth of their natal chart.  I should preface this by saying your natal chart is a picture of the sky, planets, and moon at the time and location that you were born. So I really do believe that by going through your chart, you may find that these placements resonate with the way you think and move through life. For me, I definitely resonate more with my moon sign, which we’re going to get into.

Jill Corwin: See, I think you’re more of a typical taurus.

Maddie Corwin: Really?  I know I have taurus traits, but I definitely feel like I connect more with my emotional side, which is my Leo Moon and it’s actually my chart ruler, which means that my chart is dominated by this placement. So it definitely explains how I have elements of both, but I definitely feel more inclined to my moon sign. Okay, but today we’re gonna be diving into your primal triad, which is your sun, your moon sign, and your ascendant sign. I would describe these as the three entry level placements of astrology.

So when I first started researching astrology, I came across a really great point from a Youtuber who I actually linked on my website and she said that the primal triad can be summarized in this sentence. I am a blank with the soul of a blank wearing the mask of a blank. So you would fill in the traits of your signs into the sentence and for you your sentence would be I am a teacher because that’s what the gemini was described as with the soul of a detective because that’s your Scorpio wearing the mask of a clown.

Jill Corwin: Okay, okay, so so you’re saying that geminis are mostly teachers or that just how they’re perceived to be?

Maddie Corwin: Well, geminis have this great curiosity and also they like to teach a lot of things, so that is like an element that’s connected with the sign.

Jill Corwin: That’s interesting.

Maddie Corwin: Okay, so each sign  is assigned a role and that’s the gemini role. So you plug it into that sentence, you can kind of get a broader overview of the signs, but of course we’re gonna go more in depth into that.

Jill Corwin: Okay, can you say the sentence one more time for me?

Maddie Corwin: So I am a teacher, with the soul of a detective, wearing the mask of a clown. Hey, it’s not what it sounds like, I promise. I’ll explain and you’re going to see where these traits would be demonstrated by looking into the house that they fall into. So for today, I’m going to go with cafe astrology, since this is a very popular natal chart generator.

Since we can’t ignore the obvious, I’m going to stay away from it after a bit, but your sun is in Gemini and your sun sign represents your ego, your self image and core personality, so it’s basically the overall essence of you. Now, geminis are notoriously very curious, flexible and can adapt or mutate their personality based on who they’re around. They’re very fluid in social situations and they can balance very different people.

And there is a lot of gemini hatred out there, especially in the astrology community. Not my words, but many think of geminis as two faced.

Jill Corwin: Okay, well, we’ll definitely not, but it’s interesting because you’re saying that they’re flexible and they’re adaptive, which I get, but then it’s kind of negated by saying two faced.

Maddie Corwin: Well that’s just zodiac memes against geminis. But I personally think people are just uneasy around geminis because you can be very difficult to read at first glance. So, signs that are more comforted by knowing exactly everything about people or can read them very well, Geminis are going to make them uneasy.

Jill Corwin: Well, that’s interesting. I’m going to make people uneasy, keep people on their toes because I can’t always read you right? Well, it’s funny because I’m always trying to make people feel comfortable. So I think that’s interesting that you’re saying that people are  put off by a gemini, you know.

Maddie Corwin: I think this is true. I mean I’m a little biased because I am your daughter, but I do think that you’re very flexible in social situations. Look at me and dad. Dad and I are the same sun sign, but we’re very different people and you do a good job of balancing the two of us because we’re both very strong headed, strong willed personalities and you kind of are there to defuse the situation, right?

Jill Corwin: And that’s why I say you both are taurus and you both can be very stubborn and strong willed, but you’re also very different. So that’s why I always don’t always believe 100% with astrology because you both, are taurus, but you’re very different.

Maddie Corwin: Well, yeah, because we also have very different birth charts. We were born in the same date range, but when you go to the location and the time in the year, that definitely changes it up. So this is when you can start to differentiate with your moon sign. So your moon side is your emotional self and how you express yourself when you’re in your element and you’re most comfortable state. So this is your very emotional intuitive side that you really don’t show many people and some people tend to relate more to their moon signs than their sun signs as it represents that deeper emotional state of people rather than the sun sign.

Jill Corwin: Okay, so people that are very close to me, like my family or my friends, they’re going to see that moon side of me. Where as the other people are just going to probably see the sun side of me?

Maddie Corwin: We definitely would see the moon sign, but also it’s very personal. So depending on the person, they may not show their moon sign to too many people, and maybe only something they know about themselves. That’s when you’re displaying the moon sign characteristics and for you, your moon is in Scorpio. Right now I’m quoting cafe astrology just because they had a really great breakdown on Scorpio moons. “Scorpio moons have powerful, emotionally intense lives. Some feel like it is beyond their control. These natives seem to attract emotional upheaval and their lives appear to consist of plenty of dramatic ups and downs moon and Scorpio people radiate strength. Even in the absence of experience, they seem to just know things. It would be difficult to shock or scare away lunar scorpios in the face of emotional honesty and power. Some people instinctively want to lean on them and other less brave folks run a little scared. I definitely see this in you, especially with the strength. What do you think?

Jill Corwin: I feel I definitely can relate to this. I definitely am, you know strong and that’s just who I am, but I never ever attributed once again to my moon sign. You know, I just thought that’s my personality, that’s who I am. My life experiences have shaped me as a person, you know what I’m saying? I guess that’s probably my thing with astrology. I’m like, it’s my personality, it’s just, I believe it’s been my life experiences that have made me this adult version of myself. But listening to you now, a lot of things make sense, you know, they do make sense or you’re saying things that I’m like, “Yeah, well that, that does sound like me or that is who I am”, so I’m interested. It’s very interesting.

Maddie Corwin: Yeah, I definitely think that you can relate more to the moon sign than your sun from what it sounds like.

Jill Corwin: Definitely.

Maddie Corwin: I feel like, you know it’s a very personal way to look at yourself. Like when you’re thinking about your moon sign, it’s like, you know who you are and you’re right, you don’t let people see it, you don’t let everybody see it. Those that you know, you I guess trust will see those signs. But sometimes even that is a very personal thing and it’s important to note too that your Scorpio Moon is in your fourth house. So that means that you like family life, peace and quiet and yeah, that definitely sounds like you. That’s definitely something that really helps to look at the houses because that can help you pinpoint where this trait would be showing up in your life.

Maddie Corwin: You’re listening to Astrology Psychology exploring whether or not our zodiac signs are accurate portrayals of our character. I’m your host, Maddie, Corwin diving back into the planets.

Maddie Corwin: So I just have to ask: do you think that now you can see the validity of astrology now after our conversation compared to where you started?

Jill Corwin: Okay. I will say that I think I’m more open minded. I won’t roll my eyes so much or you know, laugh when you start telling me yourself. But I think that it is very interesting because I think for me, I’ve always just looked at the sun. Like when you’re talking about that most dominant type of trait. I’ve always attributed that to like whatever it is like for you and your taurus and James is a Capricorn?  I don’t even know what James is.

Maddie Corwin: He’s a Capricorn.

Jill Corwin: So I always  say, okay, whatever the typical or the stereotypical type of the sign is. But after this, I definitely see that there’s many, many layers and levels to look at. And for me, I would agree with you that I’m more those kind of undercover traits than those dominant ones.

Maddie Corwin: Thank you all for listening and for your endless support. Catch us next Tuesday to discuss the next guest: a triple Aquarius. I know how terrifying. I’m your host Maddie Corwin, catching you on the flip.
