The image above was voted as the best picture of the day (03/15/17) by the Telegraph. Without having any background knowledge about it the first thing that strikes the viewer’s eyes are the colors. The women present in the picture are wearing a very colorful dress, and the drums are a vibrant red. The drumming group, however, is very famous worldwide. They’re called the High Energy Performance Group and are originally from Japan. This performance took place in England, in a fully packed Peacock Theatre. Their clothing is to resemble those that performed ancient Japanese drumming, a common practice that the group tries to portray and honor in their shows. The ritual it alludes to is the Japanese Shinto Ritual, which is considered one of the most important religious rituals of Japan.
