Hi and welcome to my digital exhibition, a culmination of a year of research on depictions of black Africans in Italian and Northern European Renaissance artworks. I specialize in Italian and Northern European Renaissance Art, with a focus in race, sex, and gender. This project helped to satisfy the requirements of a Master of Arts degree in Art History at American University in Washington, D.C., which was awarded to me in May of 2020.

I would like to express my special appreciation and thanks to my advisor and mentors, Dr. Andrea Pearson and Dr. Joanne Allen for their support, insight, and guidance. I will forever be grateful for your patience and encouragement which helped me in completion of this project and for becoming role models I could look up to.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank Jon and my close friends for their understanding and love during the past few years. Their support and encouragement was in the end what made this possible. To my parents and grandmothers, thank you for your love, your dedication, and the many years of support during my studies that provided the foundation for this work.
