This is a picture of one of the trails I hiked within Rock Creek Park. During this visit to the park, the sun was just starting to set, so in many places there were streaks of sunlight that came through the trees and splotched the ground around me. I took this picture because I thought the streaks of sunlight made this particular area look beautiful as it highlighted some of the ivy on the ground and the fallen logs that were on the side of the path. The beauty that I saw in this image also reminded me of my first visit to Rock Creek, and how very different the area looked during this new visit. My first visit to the park was during winter, so most of the grass and almost all of the trees in the area were dead. This new picture shows a plethora of green ivy, as well as trees and other plants growing all around. I thought it was just so crazy how much a place can change in such a short amount of time, and how much my opinion of the area changed over a span of a few short months. Seeing all of the plants and the sunlight coming through the trees made me appreciate the beauty of the park that I did not get to experience on my first visit to the area.
