Solving Spatial Problems

This study seeks to learn more about spatial problem solving in adults (18–24 years old).

We are seeking participants with reading disabilities, including dyslexia and specific learning disability (in reading).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Prior diagnosis of one or more:
    • reading disability
    • dyslexia
    • specific learning disability
    • etc…
  • No prior or current diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disorder other than dyslexia and/or ADHD (i.e. participants can have an ADHD diagnosis in addition to a reading disability diagnosis).
  • Between 18 and 24 years 11 months of age (inclusive)
  • Primary language is English
  • Has not participated in spatial thinking research in the past year
  • No diagnosis of uncorrected sensory disorder (i.e. vision problems without wearing glasses)
  • No diagnosis of any neurological disorder, cognitive disorder, or psychiatric disorder
  • No diagnosis of a severe speech and language disorderLocation: The study will be conducted in the Educational Neuroscience Lab at American University (located in the sports center annex (SCAN), room 153.

Participation involves attending 1 lab visit that may take up to 90 minutes. During this time, you will complete questionnaires and tasks on and off the computer. For compensation, you can choose between 1.5 psychology research credits or $20.
