Highs & Lows: Drugs in American Society

This is the student-run course page for American University’s GNED-140 “Highs & Lows: Drugs in American Society”

Our Goal

Propose an integrated global solution that will reduce the harm caused by drug cultivation, trafficking, and consumption.

Our Approach

Finding a solution to the drug problem in America will require team work, as well as interdisciplinary and innovative research and thinking. Given the openness of this project, our class was divided into 4 groups of 4-5 members each. Each group chose to tackle one of the following topics:

  1. Economic impact of drugs
  2. Laws and regulations as they pertain to drug use
  3. Biological origins of addiction and treatment
  4. Ethical issues with drug use and abuse
