ABOUT THE TOOL:
The tool consists of a field guide and a manual which provide guidance for how to introduce the topic of working in fragile and conflict-affected situations (FCS), explain key concepts, and presents the 3-Step tool. They may be applied at the level of projects, programs, or strategiesand to all interventions of humanitarian aid, development cooperation and conflict transformation/peacebuilding in fragile situations.The field guide is a light version of the more comprehensive manual. It is for users who have attended an introductory workshop or training on WFCS. The manual contains additional material, which is primarily for facilitators of WFCS workshops, focal points, and project managers.
The 3 steps are:
- Understanding the conflict context;
- Understanding the interaction between the organization and the conflict context;
- Strategic decisions for program and project management.
