From the Classroom to the Cafeteria: Interview with a Nutrition Education Expert

I recently interviewed Annmarie Hart-Bookbinder, a registered dietician and the Project Leader and Nutrition Educator for the Maryland SNAP-Ed Program in Montgomery County through the University of Maryland, Extension. In the podcast, linked here, we discuss Annmarie’s experience working with students in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), and the challenges related to providing nutrition education to elementary aged students, as well as the benefits and best practices that she has learned.

Through this assignment, I gained a greater insight into the challenges that nutrition educators face in preparing and implementing a lesson or program. I also learned about strategies to engage parents and families, and to integrate community organizations and partners into the work.
