Ikebana International is exhibiting at the U.S. National Arboretum at the Bonsai and Penjing Museum. Three installations: June 17, 20, 23. Seven schools of ikebana. Three demonstrations, each at 1 PM, on June 18, 19 and 26. June 26 at 1 PM is a workshop for kids ages 8- 15.
We welcome new courses beginning in fall 2022, including JAPN-414 Japanese Translation and JAPN-415 Japanese Civilization. Both of these courses will be taught using new Japanese language textbooks, the Japanese Civilization course taught completely through the medium of manga.

Introduction to Japanese Translation (3) This course introduces the methods, techniques, and difficulties involved in translating between Japanese and English. It emphasizes translating general material, with some consideration of the translation of specialized material. It also introduces the field of translation as a profession.
日本文明 JAPN-415 Japanese Civilization (taught each spring semester)
This course introduces the history and culture of Japan as seen from a Japanese perspective. It focuses on the most salient historical events and cultural movements that occurred between the pre-Nara period to the present.
