Johanna grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Washington, DC in 2014 for undergraduate studies at American University. She graduated in May 2018 with an interdisciplinary degree in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government (CLEG). CLEG was designed to be a public policy and lobbying track to give students multiple lens to look through when analyzing and advocating for policy. While at AU, she studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic and was involved with a social sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, and the School of Public Affairs Leadership Program which culminated with a Certificate in Advanced Leadership Studies. Johanna fell in love with D.C. through a number of professional experiences in the public, private, and non profit sector and time to explore the many restaurants and art museums the city has to offer. She is passionate about research and public policy solutions for the many challenging issues facing communities across the country. She is particularly interested in health policy and advocating for healthcare access for women, rural populations, and other undeserved populations.
