My research in the Zebrafish Ecotoxicology Neuroscience and Vision Lab at American University focuses on studying the Notch Signaling Pathway under hypoglycemic conditions in order to further elucidate the relationship between Type II Diabetes and Alzheimer’s Disease. Using a transgenic line of zebrafish where GFP was coupled to assess Notch activity over time.
In the summer of 2016, I worked all summer on a boat in conjunction with the Long Island Shark Collaboration in order to track the migratory patterns of shark species including: Great White, Hammerhead, Thresher and Sandbar. Sharks were caught using long line and release. and tags were placed (see above picture). Data was assessed to determine if waters closer to the shore habituated newborns.
