This afternoon Haley, another girl from my Wrtg 101 class, and I sat an has a study session. I think people under appreciate study groups. While many people associate study groups with goofing off, I actually find myself more motivated to work while in a study group. Even though we didn’t read through each other’s websites, we did spend nearly 5 hours bouncing ideas off each other, and I gained a lot from the experience.
Having someone study with you, especially if it is for the same class (as long as you can stay on topic) I think benefits everyone a lot. First of all, it makes you feel better. It feels a lot less sad then when you’re sitting by yourself in your room. In addition, having a fresh perspective on a complicated topic (Like our Essay 2, which will be posted soon) gives you all kinds of new ideas and perspectives; a fresh face helps you poke holes in your argument and more fully direct your points. And with that, your direct points can become more creative! Something I may thing was creative, a partner can always add another dimension to it.
(Also I think subconsciously when I see someone else work, I work harder) Either way, I encourage everyone to go out there and join a study group! Maybe you’ll get more done (and have a better time)!
