My name is Jessica Kerpez and I am an aspiring physician and a graduating senior from American University with a major in Biology. I am a motivated and inquisitive individual with a keen interest in everything that is science! I have worked as an assistant in the developmental biology laboratory where I have gained valuable experience using PCR, western blot, diluting primers, and more. At Bethesda Vision Care, I have worked as an optometrist technician who is responsible for running all the preliminary tests before a patient is sent to their respective doctor. In this high paced, medical environment I had direct contact with patients on a daily basis and demonstrated my ability to be a detail oriented and efficient employee. My responsibilities included testing for eye pressure, macular degeneration, optic nerve disease, and taking preliminary reading of patients’ contact lens and glasses prescriptions. Furthermore, my passion for healthcare has inspired my work as a volunteer at Sibley Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Room and as a Disaster Responder for the American Red Cross. Some of my hobbies include playing the piano and photography!
