I spent last year volunteering at Children’s National Medical Center as a Special Category Volunteer in Child Life. Given my desire to go into pediatrics, this experience was a wonderful opportunity to see what it would be like to work in a pediatric inpatient setting. I spent time interacting with the patients, giving me a deep understanding of how a medical professional can make a patient feel at ease and how to make their time in the hospital as bearable as possible. The joy that I receive from these interactions reaffirms my dream of becoming a compassionate pediatric health professional.
