In this multidisciplinary course, students will learn the principles of community-based research, the fundamentals of social science research and engage in a substantive research project in collaboration with a local non-profit in the Washington, DC area.
The Spring 2015 class conducted a Community Needs Assessment in all eight Wards of Washington DC in collaboration with United Planning Organization.
In Spring 2016, one section of the course worked with LAYC Career Academy and the other section is worked with Maya Angelou Public Charter School. Each section conducted surveys, focus groups and interviews with current students, former students and staff.
