Palmer, Ph.D., Sean Wilson, Ph.D., and Valli Rajah, Ph.D.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Download PDF of the Call for Papers <a href=\"http:\/\/edspace.american.edu\/june42021forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1897\/2021\/06\/Virtual-Forum-on-Anti-Racism-Intersectionality-Call-for-Papers-Race-and-Justice-Special-Issue.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We invite submissions for a special issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/home\/raj\"><em>Race and Justice<\/em><\/a> entitled \u201cAnti-racism &amp; Intersectionality in Feminist Criminology &amp; Academia: Where do we go from here?\u201d For this special issue, we invite panelists from the <a href=\"https:\/\/edspace.american.edu\/june42021forum\/\">Virtual Forum on Anti-Racism &amp; Intersectionality in Feminist Criminology (&amp; Academia)<\/a> to share insights into how to implement ideas discussed in the forum with consideration to our roles as researchers, teachers, colleagues, and community members.<\/p>\n<p>The special issue seeks to publish conceptual pieces, empirical research, case studies, and essays discussing experiences, processes, strategies, and\/or projects, that offer <strong>concrete recommendations<\/strong> to address challenges raised by forum participants. Priority consideration will be given to submissions that address core forum topics such as (1) making Black lives matter in criminology and academia; (2) disrupting orthodox criticisms of \u201cme\u201d research; (3) the impacts of meaningful anti-racist practices and policies in criminal legal systems or in academia; (4) engaging in radical resistance to the dominant paradigm in teaching and mentoring; (5) genuinely supporting underrepresented and marginalized faculty and students; and (6) undertaking anti-oppressive research.<\/p>\n<p>The papers in this special issue will contribute new substantive knowledge, offer insights into best pedagogical and research practice, and provide concrete, actionable solutions to help develop and implement a more inclusive, equitable, and engaged feminist criminology that centers racial equity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Submissions<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A 500-word abstract and a 100-word biographical sketch of each author should be submitted electronically to june4forumspecialissue [at] gmail.com <strong>by August 1, 2021. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>At least 50% of the authors on each paper must have been panelists at the Virtual Forum on Anti-Racism and Intersectionality in Feminist Criminology (&amp; Academia) on June 4, 2021.<\/li>\n<li>The abstract should contain details of the content and approach of the intended submission. Authors of selected abstracts will be notified <strong>by August 15<\/strong> if they are invited to submit full texts due <strong>by<\/strong> <strong>October 1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>All manuscripts will undergo blind peer review. Final manuscripts are due no later than <strong>December 17<\/strong>. Completed manuscripts can be between 4,000 \u2013 8,000 words dependent on whether it is a commentary, research note, or article. Authors should follow all formatting guidelines for regular manuscript submission to the journal (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/author-instructions\/RAJ\">instructions for authors<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>We anticipate this special issue will be published in <strong>April 2022<\/strong>.
