One comment:

  1. Cindy Sherman’s relationship with her parents played a major role in shaping her identity, or to be frank, multiple identities. As a teenager rebelling against her parents, more specifically in defiance to her mom’s expectations, she begins photographing herself to depict the person/people she was expected to emulate. Her emotional status comes through by use of dismembered dolls, this after a tumultuous period in her personal relationship that ended up in divorce from her first husband. I believe she was identifying with women/people who become emotionally fragile when their relationships collapse. And more importantly, other women who have similar experiences can easily identify with this Cindy Sherman.
