RED-S results from an imbalane between training/recovery/nutrition. This imbalance can occur unintentionally, but often it is the result of purposeful calorie restriction to acheive a certain aesthetic. This type of behavior is dangerous and can lead to a clinically significant eating disorder. The Nourished Performance program is not intended to diagnose or treat a clinical eating disorder. If you observe an athlete displaying characteristics consistent with disordered eating patterns, please alert the athlete’s parent or guardian and seek professional help. The National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) website is a great resource and can help you decide how to address the issue.
