Module 3: What Should I Eat? Pre-Game Fuel

Recovery is a vital part of training, yet it is so often overlooked. This week we will discuss why properly recovering after a hard effort is so important. We will learn how to combine macronutrients to create the perfect recovery meals.

Module 5: Hydration Station

It’s not all about food! Keeping properly hydrated is important for everyone, especially athletes. This week we will learn all about the benefits of proper hydration.

Activities:

Small Group Cooking Competitions

With Nourished Performance’s cooking competitions, pre-game dinners just got a whole lot more fun! The team will break into small groups and each group will cook dinner the night before a game. The rest of the team will “judge” the meal…but everybody wins!

Through these competitions, athletes put what they learn in the classroom to work! They collaborate to plan a menu consistent with pre-game dinner recommendations, learn cooking skills, gain confidence in the kitchen and practice combining macronutrients into meals that will nourish their bodies and fuel their performance.

Grocery Store Tour

Let’s face it, grocery stores are intimidating. Endless choices can confuse even the most well-intentioned shopper! The Nourished Performance program seeks to give young athletes confidence when walking through grocery store doors.

Athletes will go on a fun scavenger hunt through the grocery store to learn where to find ingrediants used often in sports nutrition as well as healthier packaged options!

Sample Scavenger Hunt Item: Locate two packaged energy bar options that fit the 3:1 carbohydrate:protein ratio for enhancing recovery
