This sign was on Edgewood Street as I was walking to go to the actual apartments. In all honesty, this sign made me laugh. It made me understand that I was in the right area to study how this area in DC was known at one time as Little Beirut. At the height of the crack epidemic in DC, a sign that says that “people are subject to arrest and seizure of the vehicle” would tell me that this area is a pretty common area to score. In addition, this sign also made me more hyper aware of my surrounds. I knew from what was going on around me and from this sign that I was an outsider to this neighborhood. Therefore, I had to make sure I did not look or do anything that suggested I do not belong there more than I did not at the time.
