Question: For this blog post, I’d like you to write about your goals for yourself as a writer. Why are you here? What do you want to get out of this course? What do you hope to achieve? Feel free to be as introspective and honest as you want but remember that clarity is important.

My answer:

For me, my goal as a writer is to write logically and smoothly. Since English is not my first language, I sometimes struggle to write with enough evidence or flow. For example, when I needed to write a paper for my economics class, I struggled with how to explain economics situation logically in words. I believe if I had more writing skills, I could explain better. Therefore, by using my writing skills, I could write better and logical papers for other courses too. I am here in this class to learn writing skills. Of course, I need to take this course to graduate, but learning writing skills is the first reason for taking this class. I used to take writing 100 last semester; however, I feel I need to take more English course especially because my writing skill could be improved more and more. From this course, I want to learn several writing skills and one of them is using correct grammar. It is because I sometimes make grammar mistakes. I think I need to not only try to have less grammar mistakes by checking my paper again and again, but also learn grammar itself. Another writing skill I want to learn is to increase my vocabulary. I sometimes repeat the same words unintentionally because I do not come up with other vocabulary. I would try to remember new vocabulary and use it in my paper.I hope to write an essay with fewer grammar mistakes and more variety of vocabulary than last semester.
