Over the course of the semester, I’ve researched the oldest and most widely circulated publication in D.C., the Washington Post. I began by surveying the headquarters of the paper, a relatively new location that the Post moved to after it sold to Jeff Bezos in 2013. To further my investigation of the area, I went to a Starbucks just around the corner, hoping that it was regularly attended by the people that make the Post run. Finally, I analysed the Washington Post’s website. By examining its physical situation and its digital presence, I was able to conclude that the newspaper is rapidly changing, and this comes with a distancing from the eponymous city that gives it something to write about.
