Teaching

Center for Teaching, Research and Learning: A wealth of resources for teaching; CTRL also organizes regular workshops and the Ann Ferren conference.

Elizabeth Cohn: SIS Faculty Coordinator for Teaching and Student Learning

All faculty can schedule individual advising appointments with Elizabeth Cohn. These sessions are completely confidential. They can be opportunities to review syllabi and problem-solve any issues faculty are having with their teaching, such as leading discussions, handling challenging students, getting students to do the reading, and so on.

In addition, Elizabeth Cohn organizes an annual teaching cafe, where faculty can discuss various aspects of teaching and exchange best practices. This year, the cafe will take place on Wednesday 25 October, from 11.30am to 1pm.

Jason (Jace) Glass (jglass@american.edu): Director of Academic Affairs, oversees many of the back-end processes in the school related to course scheduling, as well as curriculum changes including new course proposals. He will lead the academic affairs team consisting of Judy Odeyle and Julie Walton, and work closely with faculty and staff across the school.
