One of my favorite pass times is playing basketball. I’ve had the opportunity to compete in competitive leagues such as IASAS (Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools) and ISSEA (International Schools of Southern and Eastern Africa). I’ve enjoyed the sport since a young age and learned the value of being a teammate and leader. Working together with a variety of people to improve your personal and team skills united by a common goal is not only prevalent in basketball, but leadership throughout life. Being the captain of my team senior year, I was able to take on more responsibility and build my leadership skills. From my experience, being a leader means capitalising on everyone’s different skill sets, bonding with your team, and making sure everyone feels valued enough to produce their best work in order to reach a common goal.
