Discussion Question: There seems to be some kind of correlation between watching sports and eating unhealthy food, why do you think that is?

  1. I think that over time sports and junk food have just become the thing to do. If there’s a Super Bowl party, then chips and salsa or Doritos and cookies are required. This has to do with the lack of mindful eating that occurs when you’re watching sports. Junk food is cheap and easy to obtain as well. In addition, most people don’t pay attention to their intake when watching television (a game), so they just snack throughout the entire thing.

  2. I think because people don’t want to eat healthy food that requires a lot of work and doesn’t make you feel good while watching sports they are less willing to make and eat it. Also you want inexpensive food if you will be eating it every Sunday per se. Another contributing factor is the ability to replenish food during time outs and commercial breaks. By having healthier food there is less of it typically and harder to replenish on a budget.
