In 2014 Prof. Carmen Helena Ruzza and Prof. Susana Marin started the project Tertulias for the undergraduate students enrolled in the Spanish Language Program, Word Languages & Cultures Department.
This initiative focuses on creating opportunities for our AU students to engage with the language outside the classroom. With that in mind, and by taking advantage of American University location in Washington DC. Tertulias has a yearly calendar of events related to different Spanish speaking countries, meeting mostly twice each semester.
These events included gastronomical experiences, music and dance, visual arts and other cultural events in and outside campus.
Given the growing popularity of this events, they are now open to all students in the university, faculty and staff.
