About Me


Winter Brooks is currently a freshman honors student at American University. Coming from Detroit, Michigan, Winter has witnessed the inequalities in the education system and has developed a passion in working to improve public education. Her interests in working in under resourced communities and hard work in high school led her to receiving the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholarship at American University. She is a Business, Language, and Cultural Studies major with a focus in the Spanish language at the Kogod School of business. Winter aspires to gain the business background and resources she needs to hopes to obtain an MBA. Her long term goal is to start or work in develping a non-profit that involves youth development. 1. Long-Term Goals


  • Graduate with at least a 3.67 GPA
  • Study business management in another country
  • Go to business school to get an MBA


  • Secure funding for graduate school from a potential company
  • Gain skills necessary to enter the professional field of supply chain management
  • Get an internship at a non-profit organization in the development offices


  • Enhance my writing skills
  • Become more active in on campus activities
  • Join a sorority
