To get an even better understanding of the common aesthetic; I looked at yet another coffee shop Peet’s Coffee. This particular place, however, is a chain dating back to the 60’s. Unlike the 2000s founded Dulcezza, this is representative of the original ‘hipster’ look. It appears that this aesthetic is partly of the cafe cliche in a way, but it also has become the common representation of what has made 14th as alluring as it is. The coffee shop look is nothing new. The way that local businesses on 14th have managed to ‘own it’ is definitely why 14th is intriguing as it is, being very gentrified and not necessarily as reflective of what was.
