This site, Supreme Council, 33˚, Scottish Rite Freemasonry, S.J., lives just across the street from the end of the 1600 block of S Street. Its massive stature bookends the street and feels simultaneously like a departure from the neighborhood and a reentry into the busy downtown itself. Given the fact that the rest of the sub-section of the neighborhood is residential, the actual progress that is made in this building is quite contrasting. I discovered that many people like to sit quietly on the steps and look around the wide street. It’s a pastime that I personally found quite enjoying.
