Katzen 135 Access Form
Use this form to gain access to Katzen 135. If you’re an Audio Technology student you may access this computer lab even if you are not registered for a course that takes place in the lab.
Please note: You have to fill out this form EACH semester that you want access.

Independent Study
Undergrads: Click here for the AU online form (you will have to log in)
Grads: Use this form to register for an independent study between 1-6 credits. You can also use this form to complete your Capstone IF there is no actual Capstone course on the schedule.
Procedure:
- Fill out as much as you can on the form but leave the ATEC course number and section blank
- Find a full time faculty supervisor based on the type of project you will be working on and complete the remainder of the form with their assistance
- Have your faculty supervisor sign the form
- Have your academic advisor sign the form (Undergrad advisor is Benjamin Berg and Grad advisor is the ATEC faculty you were assigned)
- Sign the form
- Email completed form to Richard Streeks at streeks@american.edu (let Richard know whether you’re an undergrad student, a BA/MA student, or a grad student)
Internship Form
Procedure:
- Find an internship on your own, get assistance from a faculty member, or check with the career center
- Fill out as much as you can on page 1 and 2 but leave the ATEC course number and section blank
- Have your site supervisor fill out the Internship Site Info section
- Carefully check the chart on page 3 to make sure that your total hours match the number of credits you are seeking or the registrar will not process it
- Find a faculty supervisor and have them sign the form on page 2
- Have your academic advisor sign the form (Undergrad advisor is Benjamin Berg and Grad advisor is the ATEC faculty you were assigned)
- Sign the form on page 2 AND page 4
- Email completed form to Richard Streeks at streeks@american.edu (let Richard know whether you’re an undergrad student, a BA/MA student, or a grad student)
Request for Registration Action
Graduate students only. Use this form for one or more of the following reasons:
- You were given permission to register for a course outside of ATEC
- You need to change the amount of credits of a course you’re registered for
- You need to change the title of a course you’re registered for
- You need to change the instructor for a course you’re registered for
