About Me

With my logistics team at Symantec (Mountain View, CA) for XXHacks, an all-female free hackathon

Interests

Coming from Silicon Valley, I have grown up around technology. After noticing how effective being able to code myself would be at a summer entrepreneurship incubator, I took the initiative to teach myself how to code in languages like HMTL and CSS. I continued my coding passions by attending and organizing hackathons, as well as being one of the only 20 attendees at the Microsoft Mountain View- Girls Who Code program over the summer of 2017.

And should my decision to attend college in DC be any indication of my interests, it is my fervent passion for politics and government affairs. Perhaps, my passion for politics can be even dated back to when I ran and won Student Council President back in elementary school. Being the only female candidate, I looked back to national politics at the time for support, only to realize the absolute lack of representation for women in politics. After serving on my school district’s Board of Trustees as the sole Student Board Member and representative for over 11,000 students, my interest in politics and representation only increased as I understood the power of a vote and a voice. Today, I am incredibly passionate about increasing the representation of women in politics, but also integrating myself in the policy and government affairs side of politics.

Goals

For the future, I am looking to pursue further legal studies through law school to grasp concepts of international law and policy better, while also continuing education in cybersecurity and online governance.  I plan to use my experience with coding (i.e. HTML, CSS, Python, etc.) with my passions for international tech policy & law to reach my career goals. With my technical skills and background in policy work, I strongly believe that I can use this intersection as momentum to move forward. I am always open to new experiences and finding new interests, and am absolutely ecstatic to see where these next few years of college take me.
