My Writing Goals

I would like to describe myself as an exploratory writer because I like to try different writing styles and try to argue eccentric ideas. So, I’m always excited to learn new methods on how I can tweak a paragraph to make it fit my desired rhetorical appeal.

In general, my goal as a writer is to constantly enhance my writing no matter how small the improvement is, so I can excel in writing research papers and any literature necessary for my future career. More specifically, in this class I wish to improve my writing weaknesses. I believe my main weakness is putting sources in conversations and entering myself into the conversation. Additionally, I wish to improve my ability to transfer my thoughts on to paper more authentically and in an academic manner by the end of this semester. By doing so, this class helps me get one step closer to my overall goal of becoming an adequate college level writer.

The reason I chose this writing course is because it is a part of AU’s Writing and Communication requirement, in addition to Professor Djain’s great reviews on RateMyProfessor.com. Regardless, I am glad I chose this class because unlike ordinary professors, Djain welcomes creativity by encouraging “non-traditional” submission styles and introduces me to new skills such as creating my own website. Which is not usually expected from writing classes.

With this unique approach I believe it can help me achieve my goals.
