About Me:
Katherine DelGiudice is a member of the American University’s Class of 2023. She is pursuing a double major in Political Science and Public Relations & Strategic Communication, and a Certificate in Advanced Leadership from AU’s School of Public Affairs Leadership Program. She is currently a fourth-year student in the program. For her second year project, she conducted a year long research and social action project on racial inequalities in the criminal justice system. She also worked as a First-Year TA for the Immigration and Refugee Rights Issue Group, leading six first-year students in a research project about the mental health needs of resettled refugees. The following year, she worked as a mentor for seven second year students in the program, to assist them in carrying out their own projects.
Katherine is from Rhode Island, and developed a passion for politics at a young age. She graduated from La Salle Academy with honors in May 2019. In addition to scholarship, Katherine participated in academic teams and artistic activities. Katherine is a member of multiple honor societies, including National Honor Society, Rhode Island Honor Society, and National Italian Honor Society. She worked as a Legislative Page at the Rhode Island State House, and a Summer Intern at her local District Court Clerk’s Office. Since coming to college, she has gained experience on Capitol Hill, in Congressman David Cicilline’s office, and in the office of Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. She previously interned at the United States Department of Commerce in the Office of the Secretary. She is currently working as a Communications Intern at the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) where she drafts materials and releases about governors actions around the country in a midterm election cycle where there wee 36 governors races on the ballot. Throughout her experiences in these jobs, Katherine has fostered a passion for social justice, equity, and law. She hopes to continue pursuing these interests as a student in Washington D.C., and eventually pursue a Masters in Political Communication.
