ReThink Media

My first internship was during my sophomore year at ReThink Media working within the Peace and Security Collaborative, which focuses on developing cohesive communications strategies for experts and organizations who work on the issues of nuclear security and nonproliferation, auditing the Pentagon budget, and drones, among other things. Having the opportunity to intern at the organization was an enriching experience. At ReThink Media I was able to learn about the communications field, more specifically within the realm of international studies, which was extremely valuable. ReThink Media allowed me to look at my degree of international studies through a communications lens. I was responsible for maintaining the collaborative’s Twitter, compiling press lists and organizing press kits for briefings and other events, generating profiles of journalists and reporters for a database, and many other things. I learned more at ReThink Media than I could have ever anticipated, and it is because of the folks there that I found my passion in nuclear disarmament, arms control, and nonproliferation. One of the organizations we did a good deal of coordinated work with was the Arms Control Association. I admired the work ACA did during my time at ReThink Media, which is what compelled me to apply for an internship there once I returned from my year abroad!

Here are some examples of social media content I created for the Peace and Security Collaborative at ReThink Media:
