About Me

Hello there. My name is Nicholas Couch and I am an undergraduate student at American University. I am majoring in Political Science with a concentration in American Government through the School of Public Affairs. I am also pursuing an Advanced Leadership Certificate through the SPA Leadership Program. On campus, I am a Teaching Assistant for the Leadership Program, as well as a contributing writer for The Eagle, American’s student-run newspaper.

I am originally from Green Brook, New Jersey, the youngest of three brothers. During my high school tenure I focused on community service and outreach, dedicating countless hours volunteering at a local food bank helping distribute food to those in need. I spent 7 years as a member of Boy Scout Troop 129, where I held numerous leadership positions in the troop, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2018. I spent four summers as a staff member at a Boy Scout summer camp, and have also worked for Amazon as a fulfillment associate. Currently, I work as a legislative intern in the Washington, DC office of Representative Tom Malinowski.

After graduation from American in December 2022, I aim to remain in the DC area and gain valuable experience through my time working with the federal government.
