About Me

Hello there. My name is Nicholas Couch and I am a First-Year Student at American University. I’m studying for my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies: Communications, Legal Institutes, Economics, and Government in the School of Public Affairs. I am also pursuing an Advanced Leadership Certificate through the SPA Leadership Program. I am interested in working in the DC area and expanding my political activeness in the community. On campus, I am a member of both the AU College Democrats and the AU Students for Bernie, where I share my passion for politics and community outreach with those around me.

I am originally from Green Brook, New Jersey, where I attended Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, NJ. During my high school tenure I focused on community service and outreach, as I dedicated countless hours volunteering at a local food bank helping distribute food to those in need. I spent 7 years as a member of Boy Scout Troop 129, where I held numerous leadership positions and dedicated my time to helping others and growing the troop. I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in December 2018 after completing a project to benefit the food bank and the people it serves. I was also a staff member at Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation, where I taught merit badges to other Scouts throughout the summer and was elected to the Order of the Arrow, the national honor society for Boy Scouts.

During my next four year at AU, I hope to expand my knowledge and experience through community outreach and service programs across the DC community. I am passionate at politics and economic justice, and wish to help those in need in any way I can.
