Sofia Schmidt is a senior at American University in Washington DC majoring in international studies with a focus on U.S. Foreign Policy & National Security. Sofia is especially interested in policymaking between the U.S. and Mexico, as well as developing innovative strategies to combat narcotics trafficking and production. Sofia spent her Spring 2017 semester studying in Madrid, Spain, where she took classes on counterterrorism and immigration in the EU. Studying in Spain helped her to gain fluency in Spanish, as well as gain experience learning and interacting with different cultures. Sofia currently works at the Truman Foundation where she helps develop scholar programming and supports there international programs. Before her time at Truman, Sofia worked as an EDiscovery and Computer Forensics Intern with the Executive Office of the President.
