My Experience Interning at NP Agency

This semester, I had the fortune of interning at New Paradigm Agency in Washington, DC. This was an invaluable experience that taught me the ins and outs of the digital communications world.

NP Agency is a public affairs firm that has a mission of getting their client’s message through the noise and creating positive impacts in society through storytelling campaigns. NP does work for political, corporate, and non-profit clients. NP was founded in 2017 by former Obama White House staffers who wanted to create a coordinated communications arm that could stand up to the Trump administration and fight for the issues they are passionate about, such as providing a path to citizenship for immigrants and taking on climate change.

Throughout my internship, I learned how to craft digital communications using social media. I researched the best ways for NP’s clients to break through the noise and reach their audience on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. I drafted social media copy that was used by executives at a major energy company in the DMV area. I managed multiple data entry and research projects. I created extensive pitch lists and pitched stories to reporters and outlets across the country. I also contributed to a manuscript project and speechwriting, two projects that align with my long-term career goal of becoming a writer.

I am so fortunate to NP Agency for this great experience. I know that no matter where I end up, I will use the skills that I learned at this internship.
