About Me

Hi! My name is Jasmin Edrington. I was born in Burnsville, Minnesota, and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I attended Resurrection Saint Paul School from kindergarten to 8th grade. Until the summer after 8th grade, my main hobbies included singing, theatre, and anything creative. But after completing my Girl Scout Silver award at a farm animal sanctuary, I became an environmentalist who wanted to save animals and to preserve the Earth’s beauty and resources. Throughout college I have become increasingly involved with the topics of environmental/climate justice and food justice. I have participated in and led environmental justice initiatives as Climate Justice Chair of AU’s Climate Reality Chapter, interned at the National Farm to School Network and FreshFarm, and incorporated environmental and food justice research into dozens of projects in school.

My major at American University (international relations with a focus on sustainability) will allow me to learn the skills to work with other countries in protecting the environment. I hope to further sustainability efforts at American and eventually the world. The Environmental Protection Agency, Green Peace, The Natural Resources Defense Council, and Conservation International are a few organizations I would like to work for.
