LFP Monitoring: Multianimal Chronic Video Platform for Behavioral Scoring
Gergely Tarcsay and colleagues developed a design for a multianimal chronic local field potential monitoring platform. Data are synchronized and parsed in Bonsai, allowing for flexibility and scalability of up to 128 channels per animal. The use of an Intan adapter board for LFP-video recordings allows compatibility with a large variety of recording devices. Custom made electrodes and cables were components for the chronic LFP recordings. The platform can be adapted to other chronic monitoring data types (e.g., fiber photometry, calcium imaging). To demonstrate experimental validity, the platform was tested on mice with chronic epilepsy. An accessible graphical user interface for seizure detection is available on GitHub. The GUI incorporates frequency and amplitude based properties of the LFP.
