The TD Drive

Nov 25, 2024

Tim Schröder and colleagues from Lisa Genzel’s lab at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, along with the company 3Dneuro, have recently published an open source device, The TD Drive, for multi-site, chronic neural recordings.

The build of the device is readily customized and was shown to maintain stability for 10-15 weeks. Overall, this device allows for less experienced researchers to build their own probes for in-vivo recordings.

All of the design files and build instructions are open-source, and available on GitHub. The team’s recent publication in Jove also has a detailed protocol for assembly, with supplemental files available for further information.
