Buying A Man’s Silence:
The Failure to Hold Corporations Accountable for Human Rights Violations and the Path Forward

Context

Transnational corporations are an unregulated space in the field of international justice. With the unprecedented growth of transnational corporations and their consequent human rights violations across the globe, it is necessary for accountability mechanisms for transnational corporations to be developed in international justice organizations. This paper outlines the systemic exclusion of transnational corporations in the creation of international human rights and justice systems, and then addresses the past attempts to incorporate transnational corporations into the human rights and international justice framework. After creating this foundational understanding, I offer recommendations that will address this unexplored area of international justice.
