This is actually my 5th year here at AU and I am so excited to finally be in the final lap! I Started as a business major and changed my major to elementary education in the middle of my 2nd year. It has been the best decision ever.

I am the oldest of four girls (yes, all girls!) and my family is from Bethesda, MD. To add to our household craziness, we have three h u g e dogs who basically rule the house. Both of my parents are AU alumni, and I think they were hoping my 18 year old sister was going to end up here as well, but she chose Charleston instead.

When I’m not running around to our education classes or school sites, you can probably find me working from a coffee shop or working a shift at the Madewell store in Georgetown (Come visit! and buy teacher clothes!).

Hello, everyone! I am Emily Tesler. Here are three things I love

1. I love playing board games, especially roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons! I am in my very own group who meets online.
2. I have two cats, Bonnie and Clyde. They were wild cats who we adopted through my grandmother.
3. I love to travel to new places I have never been. I have never left the country, but hope to travel to Paris once I graduate (after my summer classes hahaha)

Hey! My name is Reed Mitchell, I am from Amherst Ma, and I am a senior here in the school of ed. I love cartoons and want to make one later in my life, I love to draw and to hang out with my friends. I am anxious about this year but also motivated to graduate!

My name is Lindsay and I started the AU MAT program in Fall 2017.

1. I am 27 years old and went to American University for undergrad – I graduated from SIS in December 2012.
2. I live in the Adams Morgan neighborhood in DC.
3. I’m from Orange, Connecticut (right outside New Haven).

Hi there,

My name is Sydney Banner and I’m a senior at American University, originally from Los Angeles, CA. I’m 20 years old (almost 21!), have a dog and a cat back home, and am an only child. I love cooking and baking, and my favorite thing to make are chocolate chip cookies, even though I usually eat most of the cookie dough during the baking process. I’m really excited for this course and to get a comprehensive understanding about the importance of literacy, as well as gain tools so that I can be a great ELA teacher someday!

Hi! I’m Fletcher Cobbsek and I am a senior at American University. I am currently during my practicum at Whittier Elementary. I am from upstate NY and have 5 younger brothers. I work at Millie’s across the street and also babysit. I am moving to California in May and I love traveling.
