About the Project

As part of the American University Honors Program, students complete a Challenge Course. The Challenge Course consists of a semester long Research Module where students develop a research question and a subsequent semester where they carry out the Challenge Course. The Challenge Course is completed with semester long interdisciplinary group research project. This Challenge Course project looked into the dominant discourses about Chavez’s Venezuela (1998-2013) in newspapers, broadcast video, political cartoons, and policy, and the alignment between the discourses and dominant themes. These themes are presented in the above sections and in the video below.
