The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) is American University’s hub for faculty support and collaboration. It opened its doors in 1998 as the Center for Teaching Excellence; expanded its mission to become the Center for Teaching, Research & Learning in 2009; and in 2025, we launched the Center for Faculty Excellence as a reimagined center dedicated to supporting faculty at all stages of their careers, across teaching, research, service, and professional growth.
One-on-One Consultation Requests
CFE has capacity to respond to a variety of requests for one-on-one consultations about teaching, scholarship, career planning, grant-writing, and faculty leadership. We will do our best to support you, or to find resources to support you.
