Our Process

Program summary

We have been working hard to bring you Fresh Choices! It started with an idea, evolved into a set of plans, and then turned into a deliverable program. Once upon a time, Fresh Choices was nothing more than the Logic Model you’ll see below. This table summarizes the resources we needed and the activities we had to carry out to bring you the outcomes Fresh Choices intended. We hope you enjoy reflecting on our beginnings as much as you enjoying hearing about the program itself!

Who is it for and how does it work?

Fresh Choices is for women between the ages of 30 and 50 who are at risk of becoming overweight and obese. If you are currently a healthy weight, this program can help you develop the habits and dietary changes to maintain your weight as you age. If you are considered to be overweight, we’ll help you to identify behaviors you need to change to reduce your risk of becoming obese and reach your health goals.

Our twelve-week program brings a group of six women together to meet weekly for highly motivating, nutrition education classes. A combination of highly interactive classroom learning and group cooking activities will help you create healthy habits and develop nutritious eating patterns.

What you will do…

  • Learn about the benefits of consuming nutrient-dense, whole foods.
  • Understand the negative outcomes of unsustainable diets for weight loss.
  • Learn about influences on body weight and overcome your barriers to developing healthier habits.
  • Practice goal-setting and self-regulating skills.
  • Meet like-minded women and gain social support on your journey to better health.
