I work in SIS and I am a part-time graduate student in the International Peace and Conflict Resolution program. I also completed my undergraduate degree here in International Studies, with a minor in Arabic language. Needless to say, SIS feels like home!
I’ve lived in DC for eight years, since my freshman year in college, and I spent one semester abroad. While studying abroad in Jordan as an undergrad, I spent my time studying Arabic language, volunteering with Iraqi refugees, and doing research on the Arab-Israeli conflict and peace process. The people that I met and the stories that I heard changed my life. It’s what led me to apply for the IPCR program here at AU.
I know how tricky it can be to navigate campus, its resources, and higher education in general, especially if it isn’t a common experience in one’s background or community. I used to struggle with feeling intimated and overwhelmed by how everything works on campus, and that’s why I love to help other students navigate the ins and outs of higher education now that I have the experience!
