Julia Zeigler headshot

Julia Zeigler (formerly Throop) is entering her third year as staff member at the School of International Service. She joined American University after spending five years living and working in Shanghai, China. Julia earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University in Chinese Language and Civilization and speaks conversational Mandarin Chinese. In May 2017, Julia completed her SIS graduate degree in Intercultural Communication. Her research focused on the many ways in which online learning can expand worldwide access to education. She remains passionate about exploring innovative ways to make higher education and study abroad more attainable and accessible. Her past experience includes writing as a contributing editor for the Boston Phoenix and Bostonian magazine. She is an avid reader and enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring outdoors. She continues to learn and develop as an ally and advocate for social justice and equal rights.
